Coming from a multi-generational musical family, music has always played an enormous role in Alex's life. After beginning on cello, she eventually picked up electric bass at age 11, and became particularly hooked on the classic bass lines from songs by artists such as Earth, Wind, & Fire, Steely Dan, Stevie Wonder, Tower of Power, and Weather Report. With the help of her father, her first bass teacher, she proceeded to learn these parts note for note. Adding acoustic bass to the equation seemed like the natural next step toward a career in music.

Alex attended the University of Connecticut, where she was mentored by Kenny Davis . During her sophomore year, she was chosen in an international competition as the alternate bassist for the 2007 International Association of Jazz Educators “Sisters in Jazz” group.

Upon graduating, Alex went on the road with two consecutive Broadway national tours, In the Heights and The Book of Mormon. While she has also performed in a number of Broadway musical pit orchestras including HamiltonWicked, Dear Evan Hansenand the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, she currently holds her own chair in the Tony Award-winning Broadway show, The Band's Visit, for which she recorded on the “Best Musical Theater Album” Grammy-winning original Broadway cast recording.

One of the major highlights in her career was performing in the ensemble which premiered  "Quiet Pride", a composition by world-renowned bassist, Rufus Reid, and subsequently studying privately with him

Known for her versatility and tasteful playing, Alex has performed with a wide array of artists including Sara Bareilles, Martha Plimpton, Rebecca Hall, Martha Wash, Kate Nash, Lipstick Gypsy, Here We Go Magic, Patti Lupone, Oz Noy, American Idol's Constantine Maroulis, as well as playing in the house band for the annual Drama Desk Awards, held in NYC. Alex also frequently doubles on cello and vocals.

Gear: Alex plays a 5-string Fender Deluxe Jazz Bass, 4-string Fender P Bass, 5-string StingRay, 5-string fretless Harper Bass, 1918 G.A. Pfretschner Acoustic Bass, and a Czech Ease Acoustic Bass. She uses Markbass amps, Aguilar Amps, Monster Cables, D'Addario strings.
