BIO
Alexandra Eckhardt is a New York-based Music Supervisor and Grammy Award-winning musician, quickly emerging as a vital voice in film and television. With a background as a seasoned performer and a natural instinct for storytelling through music, Alex brings a distinctive blend of creativity, technical expertise, and versatility to every project.
Her career in music supervision began in a Brooklyn basement rehearsal studio, where she met and played in a band with multi-hyphenate artist Rebecca Hall. That collaboration led to Hall’s BAFTA-nominated directorial debut, Passing (Netflix), starring Tessa Thompson and Ruth Negga. Personally tapped by Hall to shape the film’s vivid, era-specific sonic world, Alex earned a Guild of Music Supervisors Award nomination for her work.
Most recently, she worked on Kristen Stewart’s directorial debut The Chronology of Water, which premiered at Cannes 2025. In partnership with her mentor Linda Cohen, Alex supervised A.V. Rockwell’s A Thousand and One (Focus Features), which won the 2023 Grand Jury Prize at Sundance. She has since garnered recognition for her work on several music-driven projects with on-camera performances, including the Hulu musical series Up Here, featuring original songs by Kristen & Robert Lopez, and the Apple TV+ holiday musical Spirited, starring Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds with songs by Pasek & Paul.
Alex recently received her second Guild of Music Supervisors Award nomination for the seminal Peacock docu-series Kings from Queens: The RUN DMC Story, and supervised Mother, Mother, the directorial debut of Grammy winner K’naan Warsame and winner of the FIPRESCI Prize at TIFF 2024, for which she also coordinated Isobel Waller-Bridge’s lush score.
Coming from a multi-generational musical family, music has always been central to Alex’s life. As an electric and acoustic bassist, she has performed with artists including Sara Bareilles, Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter of The Roots, Kelly Clarkson, The Killers, Meghan Trainor, Ledisi, and many others. She has graced stages from Carnegie Hall to NPR’s Tiny Desk and The Tonight Show. On Broadway, Alex has played for acclaimed productions such as Hamilton, Wicked, and originated the bass chair on two Tony Award-winning Best Musicals - The Band’s Visit (also featured on the Grammy Award-winning soundtrack) and The Outsiders.
Alex is represented by Jonathan Clark at Kraft-Engel Management.
